The new primary school being built in Trumpington has been named Trumpington Park Primary School.
The school is due to open in September 2017 and will initially provide places for two reception classes as well as a pre-school provision.
Cambridge Primary Education Trust (CPET), which includes Histon & Impington Junior School – rated Outstanding by Ofsted and a national Teaching School – will run the new primary school.
The name was selected following a consultation by the Trust with its communities.
Lesley Birch, Executive Principal of CPET, said: “This is a significant milestone in the life of the new school and for the community of Trumpington.
“The school will be a vital part of the local area for many years to come and the consultation revealed that the community is overwhelmingly positive towards the plans.
“We would like to thank everyone who took part in the consultation and we look forward to continuing to share news on the build of Trumpington Park Primary School as we progress.”
Trumpington Park Primary School will be the key primary education provision for the new Great Kneighton housing development situated between the community of Trumpington and Addenbrookes hospital.
CPET already runs three local primary schools, Histon & Impington Infant School and Hatton Park Primary School, as well as Histon & Impington Junior School.
CPET is working in partnership with Cambridgeshire County Council and Parkside Federation Academies (PFA). The school will be built by Kier Construction. Initial preparatory work to build the new primary school building has begun and a turf cutting event is expected to be held in the next few weeks.
An open event will take place on Thursday 8th December 2016 where parents will have the opportunity to find out about how to apply for school places.
